Ed Rugman

Ed studied music, specialising in Organ, Piano and Conducting, at the RNCM gaining a Masters degree and was awarded organ scholarships at Manchester and Blackburn Cathedrals.  He pursued a career in Cathedral Music and worked alongside some of the world's finest professional choirs, including the BBC Singers.


Alongside his classical upbringing he always had an avid interest in live musical theatre and Jazz. In September 2017, Ed became the Musical Director for Collabro - the world’s top selling musical theatre vocal group and has performed with them at over 200 venues.  


Ed has written music for concerts, stage and screen and has arranged for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, written orchestrations for songs on an album for Chelsea Pensioners ‘Scarlets Appeal’ and music score preparation for recent ‘Madness’ concerts with full orchestra.


Since Ten Forward Music was formed, he has co-created the orchestrations, band scores and tracks for Collabro’s two most recent tours, as well as recording and producing the fourth commercial studio album, ‘Road to the Royal Albert Hall’, which made it into the top 20 album charts.


Chris Carter

Chris is a multi-instrumentalist, song-writer and producer from the Northwest of England. Growing up, he was no stranger to the recording studio environment, regularly rehearsing and recording in his father’s studio. He has played in numerous ensembles of various genres, from orchestral to brass bands and swing bands to rock bands.


Chris ran Bluebird Recording Studios for 8 years and has recorded many singers and bands. As well as this, he also recorded and released two successful albums of original material under the name ‘Second City’. 


Chris spends much of his time in the studio recording and producing a number of different projects and has produced music in almost every style. He has a wealth of technical and musical knowledge and has an incredible ear for detail. 


Soon after Ten Forward Music was formed, Chris was busy in the control room recording Collabro’s fourth studio album along with his colleagues. Chris was instrumental in creating just the right sound for the album which made it to No.19 in the UK album charts. Chris also played drums, guitars and bass on the album. 


Following on from the album release, Chris went on to be the drummer for the ten week album tour, culminating with a sold out performance at the Royal Albert Hall.


Claire Shipway

Claire studied music performance at Huddersfield University and was awarded an A+ commendation for her performance of Copland’s Clarinet Concerto for her final BMus honours recital. She has performed in many countries, but highlights include Barcelona and the South of France. She has gone on to become an established and highly sought after multi reed player.  


She is principal clarinet for Blackpool Symphony Orchestra and in 2018 she performed Weber’s first Clarinet Concerto with them. She has played in orchestras and bands at Lytham Festival, Greenwich Music Time, and Best of the West End at Yorkshire Wildlife Park accompanying singers such as Collabro, Michael Ball, Lea Salonga, Sheridan Smith and Marisha Wallace.  


Forming Ten Forward Music was an exciting move and one which led to producing Collabro’s forth studio album, Road to the Royal Albert Hall. Claire played clarinet, sax and flute on the album as well as creating vocal arrangements and being co musical director in the studio, guiding the vocalists. In April 2019, Claire played at the Royal Albert Hall for the final night of the Collabro tour.  


Claire has a wealth of experience in music editing and works closely with all clients to produce arrangements and sheet music to their exact needs.
